Will + verbo na base é o futuro das decisões tomadas na hora, das ofertas, das promessas e das previsões de opinião. Como can, é um verbo modal: sem -s, sem do, sempre com a base.

- Forma: will + verbo na base, igual para todas as pessoas. She will call. Nunca will to call nem wills.
- Contrações: I'll, you'll, he'll, she'll, it'll, we'll, they'll. Negativa: won't (will not).
- Pergunta: Will + sujeito + base? Respostas curtas: Yes, I will. / No, I won't. Na afirmativa, sem contração (Yes, I'll está errado).
- Uso 1: decisão no momento em que você fala: The client is on the phone? OK, I'll talk to him.
- Uso 2: oferta: I'll help you.
- Uso 3: promessa: I'll send it today.
- Uso 4: previsão de opinião, muitas vezes com I think ou probably: I think the dollar will go down.
- Para opinião negativa, o natural é I don't think + will: I don't think the client will agree.
- Probably: will probably na afirmativa (It will probably rain), probably won't na negativa.
- Pronúncia: won't soa "uôunt" e want soa "uánt". Se você trocar, I won't go vira I want go.
- Shall é raro no inglês americano. Shall we start? soa formal; o americano prefere Let's start.

Erros comuns
- Errado:
I will to send it.Certo: I will send it.Will é modal: vem direto com a base, sem to. - Errado:
Will you help me? — Yes, I'll.Certo: Will you help me? — Yes, I will.Resposta curta afirmativa não usa contração. - Errado:
She wills call you.Certo: She will call you.Modal não leva -s. - Errado:
I think the client won't agree.Certo: I don't think the client will agree.Não é erro gramatical, mas o natural em inglês é negar o think: I don't think... will.
Pratique antes de avançar
- Responda cada situação com uma decisão ou oferta na hora (I'll...): The client needs the invoice. The printer isn't working. Ana is very busy.
- Escreva 4 previsões sobre o seu ano: 2 com I think... will e 2 com I don't think... will.
